| | | | As Families Struggle with Complex Issues Like Bullying and Sexual Identity, Prevention and Counseling Are More Important Than Ever
|
| One key for helping to solve family problems is heading them off before they become insurmountable and tear families apart. This is the fervent belief of licensed professional counselor Christopher Doyle, Executive Director of the Institute for Healthy Families (IHF). After all, Doyle says, family issues become more complicated with each passing day, especially as children become older and begin dealing with issues such as sexual identity, bullying, drugs, alcohol and teen pregnancy.
|
| Some of IHF's specialties include bullying, prevention initiatives and family counseling, and he recently authored the new book, “Benefits of Delaying Sexual Debut,” also available on Amazon.com.
Doyle says that especially as therapy choices become more limited by a homosexual activist agenda, family counselors who can help with a wide variety of issues will be crucial to the mental and spiritual health of parents and children. |
| “As more and more activists hide the truth and mislead the public, counselors like me will continue to advocate for the therapy choices of those who want help and who are struggling,” Doyle said. “Everyone has the right to resolve unwanted desires, attractions and unmet emotional needs. If someone wishes to pursue therapy to resolve unwanted attractions, who are we to stop them and deny their right of self-determination? If therapy doors were closed for me, where would I be today?”
Doyle, a former homosexual who says that therapy changed his life, is now married to his wife and they have five children. He has long advocated for therapy freedom and therapy equality, especially as activists fight harder to ban therapies for minors that help them deal with unwanted same-sex attractions and gender identity confusion. For 2016, Doyle has set several Healing Weekends for the year that will help men and women, mothers and fathers, address problems before they become uncontrollable. Planned for the Washington, D.C./Maryland areas, the weekends include:
• “Breakthrough” Men’s Healing Weekend—July 15-17—Men will learn about their unhealthy relational patterns and behaviors, connect with men on a deeper level and move to a new place of healing. The small men’s group will be immersed in 48 hours of experiential healing, processing, reflecting and sharing.
• “Key to Your Child’s Heart” Mother’s Healing Weekend—Sept. 9-11—Designed for mothers of a same-sex attracted or gay-identified child, the goal is for each mother to grow personally and as a parent/coach to learn how to better love and understand struggling children and to uncover how unresolved issues may be blocking the path to family healing.
• “Key to Your Child’s Heart” Father’s Healing Weekend—Nov. 4-6—With the opportunity for fathers to connect with other dads and learn together how to rise up and face the challenges that affect families and children, fathers will gain insight into their child’s needs by learning, growing and taking part in group activities with each other during this interactive weekend.
