Sara-Jayne Makwala King asked me a very cool question in our radio conversation last week.
She asked, "Can you SEE self-love on someone? Does someone who loves themselves show up differently in the world?"
As an aside, when she started to ask the question, I thought she was going to ask if I can see when someone DOESN'T love themselves and I was laughing and wondering how to say, "Oh boy, do I!" in the most tactful way possible, so I don't make everyone who ever meets me anxious with imagining that I can see right into their insecure soul.
It's not always visible when someone doesn't really love themselves - some of us hide it really well.
But her question came as a pleasant surprise and I found I could answer it with a big fat YES.
You CAN see it when someone loves themselves.
When you love yourself, you do show up differently in the world in all sorts of ways.
You just are different when you walk around knowing you are loved and will be taken care of, than when you walk around not trusting that you will.
That simple foundational thing affects your relationships, confidence, health, career...
Then at the end of the conversation, with literally ONE MINUTE to go, she asked, "How can we help our children love themselves?"
You can hear my answer HERE.
It's an energising twenty-minute listen. I hope you get as much from it as I did.
