Subject: What colour are you?

Will you let it show?

Do you let your colour show?

Let’s say you’re a blue colour pencil in a large box of colour pencils.

And you start to believe that your shade of blue colour isn’t very important, it isn’t as good as the other colours. The greens, for example, are far better and brighter and more useful and more valuable.

So, you try to hide your real colour and make it more like a green.

You follow the greens and try to hang out in the green section, all the while feeling like a fraud...

Because actually YOU know you are a blue but you feel so ashamed of that.

You wish you weren’t born a blue! You judge it and yourself as less than others and you really believe that if you work hard to be like a green, and you manage to be more green-like, then you will have value and be accepted and loved.

You don’t love your shade of blue. You wish it was a different one.

What’s the big deal? Why is this a problem?

Four reasons I can think of right now:

  1. One, you are suffering. You live in constant fear of being seen. You assume if anyone sees the real you, they’ll judge you and not want you.

  2. Two, everyone around you gets one less shade of blue to use in their colour box. You are hiding so your shade of blue is not available to be used in the world. Everyone loses out.

  3. Three, if you hide your shade of blue, we all think that’s all there is to the concept ’blue’. We don’t know there’s this other dimension to blue that is your specific shade. We are all limited in our understanding.

  4. Four, there is a gap when that specific shade of blue is needed for a solution or clarity or completion of a picture. We know something is missing but we don’t know what it is or where to find it. Because you’re hiding it.

Now imagine if many of the colours in the pencil box did that?

Imagine if all the colours were judging their shade and trying to be like each other. Imagine trying to draw a picture with that pencil box?

That’s what happens when you think you’re not enough. When you try to ‘fix’ how you are. When you judge yourself or anyone else as 'less than'.

It’s a mess!

And it limits everyone.

It blocks our progress towards harmony and evolution and world peace...

Because some of the clarity is unavailable. It’s hiding.

We can’t see the whole picture and we can’t colour it in the way that would ultimately be best...

Because you are judging your unique shade and hiding from us all.

Please come out.

Please show your colour and shade proudly and loudly.

We need you.

You are loved.

You are safe.

You are free.

Just be you.

That’s all the world needs from you.

And we need your unique self.

Just the way you are.

If you loved yourself, what shade of yourself would you start allowing out?
