Subject: Money, You & Self-Love

Does money trigger you?

Money, money, money...and self-love?

Day 8 of 31 of the December Self-Love Bootcamp

Is money also a trigger issue for you?

It is for many of us. That’s why this week in the Self-Love Bootcamp we're focusing on how to love yourself-with your money.

Money can trigger fear and stress because it taps into our survival, our status, our health…

We need money to survive so we get scared if we think we might not have enough and we get stressed when we have to spend too much.

Money is also a status thing. In our capitalist world, He Who Has More, Is Better. So if you have self-worth and self-esteem issues, they’re going to be poked when the money conversation comes up.

Maybe you feel shame about not having enough, or discomfort about having too much while others don’t have enough, or you feel secretly inadequate because no matter how much you chase it you still don’t seem to have enough money to feel are worthy…

Very little of the stuff we get scared about is rational, but knowing that doesn’t take away the feelings of scariness, does it?

This time of year in the West is a consumerist orgy! It’s a lethal combination of vacation time, Black Friday, sales and massive, competitive, gift-buying pressure. You can easily end up feeling stressed about your finances or spending in ways you don’t feel good about later.

If you believe money or gifts affirm your worth, then this time of year will have extra punch for you.

All your money issues and fears can rear up… Do I have enough, will I make it through, how will I survive next year if I spend this now, I have enough but how much can I spend without making others feel uncomfortable, have I done enough, I can’t afford to do what they do, what does this mean about me…?

My question to you is this;

How can you love yourself in the face of all this money pressure or recklessness?

How can you love yourself with your money?

The thing we often miss, is that money is not an external force that we have to survive and outwit.

It is a TOOL THAT WE USE.

We use it. It doesn’t use us.

That means we have the power and we get to say what we do with it and what it means to us.

As always, it comes down to the choices you make.

Not only in what you choose to spend your money on, but also how you choose think about yourself and money and what you choose to say to yourself inside your own mind about money and you.

This is my message to you now in this December crazy, and always in your life.

Aim to feel loved in your money choices.

Pause at every spending choice and ask yourself, “How can I use my money now in a way that will leave me feeling loved, safe and proud of myself later?”

If you want daily reminders to check in with your money choices this December, you can still join the bootcamp. It's FREE.

Next week we will focus on how to love yourself with your family. That should be fun!

‘Tis the season to be triggered, fa la la la la, la la, la laaaaaa!
