We mostly think self-care is stuff we DO.
Like taking time off, having massages, eating well and exercising...
And it is.
But it also isn't.
Self-care is not so much what you do.
It's more about an attitude.
It's how you respond to yourself inside you.
Self-care is when you:
Reassure yourself because you feel anxious,
You hold your own hand and give yourself solace or courage,
You listen to what you feel,
You take what you want seriously.
It sounds like this:
"I really need to rest now."
Ok, let me rest now for a while and then I'll continue.
"I don't want to go to this event."
Ok, let me figure out how to get out of going.
"I don't like this."
Ok. Let me find a way to stop.
"I want to change jobs."
Ok, that's scary but let me start looking around to see what other options there might be.
"I don't know if I can do this."
That's ok. I'm allowed to be scared or nervous. I believe in me. I've done many difficult things before. I will take this step by step, and be with me the whole way. I'll get through this.
Self-care is when you cherish your existence.
Are you cherishing your existence?
If you loved yourself, how would you have an attitude of self-care in this very moment?
It's ESPECIALLY important for you to self-care if you look after other people.
If you're a therapist, doctor, nurse, coach or healer, you can still sign up for my FREE one hour training called How To Make a Self-Loving Decision.
