Subject: I wish I'd been told this...

Life would have been easier.

I wish I'd been told this...

I received this email from a friend.

"I am making a book for my daughter as a coming of age kind of present. I will probably only give it to her down the line but I would like to start making it.
In it I would like a collection of wisdom from woman that I admire, value and am inspired by,
If there is a piece of guidance that you wish you had been given as a teenager, and/ or if there is a piece of guidance that you feel young women need particularly at the time, please could you send it/them to me.
It need not be long but I would so appreciate it if you could take a moment for me, for her, please."

Well.

What an honour to be asked and what an interesting exercise to do!

I sat down and thought, “What do I say to a young woman as she’s emerging into the world? What do I feel is the best advice I could give anyone?”

This is what emerged and I wanted to share it with you.

“Never think that someone outside of you knows better than you and your body about what will be best for you.

You've come with a built-in guidance system for knowing what to do next. It speaks to you in the form of your feelings.

If something feels good - it calms you, your chest opens up, your shoulders relax, you feel hopeful and excited and unlimited - then it's a YES.

If something feels bad - it makes you feel scared, tense, stressed, your body becomes more rigid, your tummy knots up, you get a depressed, overwhelmed or resistant feeling - then it's a NO.

Listen to that.

Love yourself by listening to it in all your decisions. It's your heart and inner being speaking to you.

Never turn away from that inner guidance and your life will be good.

I wish you love and light and unapologetic joy.

Eilat”

I wish someone had taught me that when I was a little girl. I wish my being had been validated like that...

What a wonderful gift she's giving her daughter. I salute her.

I salute all of us as we learn to live life in this new way.

May we all turn towards our inner guidance in every moment of our life.

What piece of self-love guidance do you wish you had been given as a teenager or child?
