Recently the topic of Joy has popped up all over the place for me.
People talk to me about joy, I'm seeing memes about it, getting it on my social media feeds, being shown research about the health benefits of joy, and being told joy is what makes life feel worthwhile to us even in tough times...
It's like I'm being shown something I must pay attention to.
Then recently, in our Family Gathering for the advanced healthcare practitioners who have completed my 8-month CPD course, we were talking about how exactly to hold self-loving boundaries in relationships.
That conversation sparked questions like, "How can we know what we really want and need - in work and home?"
And THAT conversation led us to joy.
Again.
What we agreed on, is that it's your joy that shows you who you are and what your path is.
As Joseph Campbell famously said, you need to "Follow your bliss."
It became clear in that conversation, that turning towards our joy is what makes us happy in life.
It makes life feel better...
It makes us happier and healthier...
It makes us feel safer...
At the end of our evening, I spontaneously ended with a meditation process to consolidate and ground what we had been discussing.
And without really meaning to, I found myself leading us into feeling more joy.
Afterwards I was left thoughtful.
So many of us don't even know what our joy is.
Or how to find it...
Or how to feel it...
Or if we're even allowed to...
It made me wish everyone had been part of that conversation and meditation!
I don't record those sessions. It's a private, safe space for healthcare practitioners to share, process and grow - so I can't share it.
But I was inspired to do something else to help.
I realised I could create a meditation journey about finding and feeling joy.
So I did.
It's not just a meditation though...
It's a powerful experiential journey that creates new neural pathways, and trains your brain and body to recognise joy and be able to tune into it anytime, anywhere.
And then I realised, when we are learning something new, we need to be reminded over and over.
So I also recorded affirmations about joy to listen to again and again as you walk, drive, cook...
Then I thought, "Some of us process best by writing and thinking..."
So I ALSO created some journal prompts - questions you can use to spark off a journalling exploration with yourself.
And then I lay panting on the floor.
It was an outpouring of joy.
And it stirred and challenged me in all sorts of ways as I worked on it...
Because Joy does to that to us too...
It has left me enriched and keen to share it with you.
