THE DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH Kevin has been actively engaged in the introduction of HDR for several years now. He is a recognised Dolby Vision instructor and has recently studied the Onyx Cinema with Samsung. But the home television market is evolving faster than anything else and has presented a conundrum to colorists and productions alike. Just two years ago there was only one commercially available reference monitor that met the expectations of colorists for HDR10 mastering. HDR10 is an important standard because it is the only HDR television standard that all the current devices support. In the last year we have seen dozens of displays and several technologies come to market, but all of those that meet HDR10 and better mastering specifications cost well over US $20,000. Now, there is a challenger with a reference display less than a tenth of that price that brings high end HDR to those of us without jobs with six figure budgets. Read more |

KEVIN BRINGS ICA CLASSES TO NEW LOCATIONS IN 2019
The big benefit of ICA training is the face to face classroom setups, which bring many of the benefits of apprenticeship and mentoring schemes to those without the time, opportunity or inclination to be an assistant colorist. In 2019, so far Kevin has taught in Berlin, Taipei and Moscow. Coming up after NAB are classes in Los Angeles, Montreal and New York and then later in the year London, Atlanta, Beijing and Johhanesburg. If you are interested in any of these locations or would like to arrange a new location please send your request to info@icolorist.com or contact Kevin directly. |

PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES
Because being a colorist is nothing more than expanding our life experience to generate our own palette of colors, we are always looking beyond.
- ICA will run classes for first time in South America. Congo Film and School one of the biggest rentals in Latin America will host the event. Warren and Kevin will arrive to Colombia in August, so stay tuned.
- After hit the paradisiacal island of Bali in 2017, the ICA Colorist Summit is back. We will land in Hawaii this year, more news coming soon.
