Subject: Friend WIP4 - ICA September Newsletter.

Welcome to our September ICA newsletter.

This month’s Newsletter is coming from beautiful Madrid. It’s my first trip to Spain, cannot believe I have never been here before. There is lots going on here, many new shows being shot and posted in Madrid. Look out for the Madrid Color Tour Podcast featuring Chema Alba from DELUXE Madrid
Kevin and myself have recently been in Bogota, Colombia running the first South American ICA classes at 2600ft. I know this because at 2600ft it is very hard to ride a push bike up hills, I also found it hard walking and talking during my classes!
We are also please to announce Diego Yhama as the latest ICA Instructor. Diego is a Colorist based in Bogota and covers much of the South American region with both grading and training projects.
Don’t forget the Hawaii Colorist Summit a great way to learn and relax at the same time. Surfing lessons at 6am every morning and drinking cocktail lessons at 6pm every evening:)

BOGOTA, WORLD COLOR TOUR EXPERIENCE.

The classes at CONGO FILM SCHOOL were amazing. So huge thanks to students from Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, Dominican Republic and Peru for helping them to be such a success.
The Bogota Colorist Mixer proved to be a great success with over 150 Colorists, DPs and industry professionals attending the first South American Mixer. The quiz was a resounding success with a huge amount of excitement.
The Bogota raffle brought the house down with over 150 guests waiting to see if they had collected prizes from Assimilate, Filmlight, Blackmagic, FXPHD, Congo Films School, Revista TV y video, Video Corp, Altavista Cinematic, Violeta Post, Nacho Mazzini Family and Dedolight

REQUEST FOR COLOR DEPARTMENT AT IMBD.

The role of Colorist and related jobs such as color timer, conforming, finishing, versioning, HDR etc. really need to be in their own category. It can be very hard to find who did the grading and finishing on a project, colorists are scattered between editorial, visual effects and maybe some other departments at the moment. Also listing colorists in editorial is very misleading and confuses people about the responsibilities of the colorists and associates. For a good description of possible colorist duties click here
We need you to VOTE now then SHARE it with everyone you know. And don’t forget to comment on the thread to add your own reasons why we should have a Color Department and how it would benefit the industry. Also we are now collecting suggestions for job titles included in the category.

Thank you for your support.
