The Italian Renaissance began as an artistic movement in Florence, Italy in the 14th century, between 1300-1600 AD.
That Renaissance lifted the world from the darkness of the early Middle Ages to a time of greater creativity, intellectual inquiry, growth and prosperity. The seeds of this period of rebirth were planted in the soil of the Dark Ages, and blossomed to flourishing over the next 300 years.
