Hey there!
Even though the heaviest part of the harvest season is over, we’re still keeping super busy. How about you? How is your summer winding down and your fall gearing up?
EDIBLE LANDSCAPING Our trip to visit Edible Landscaping in Virginia went very well.
We came home with a bundle of plants and more plant lore to share, including video footage which will go into updating existing articles as well as new ones over the next few weeks.
We didn’t take the flatbed trailer this time… just the pickup truck, which is a good thing, else you know what would’ve happened! :-P
COMFREY! The first is a video clip to share is about comfrey, which we’ve had growing like crazy in an ever-expanding patch of prime garden real estate. Stil, it’s a most worthy plant with loads of benefits.
DRIP IRRIGATION When the heat is on, it’s a real no-brainer to have a drip irrigation system watering on a regular basis. We’ve been hoping for rain for a couple weeks now, and have seen very little as the isolated thunderstorms have teased us into expecting a shower or two.
We’ve all been there… rain all around us but not a drop here.
LEAF BLOWERS Nikolai has been running the leaf blowers regularly already, and we’ve not even had a cold spell yet… but the trees know, especially the poplars and several oaks.
If you’re looking for a battery operated blower, Coleman and Nikolai did a fun quick side-by-side competition.
MORE NEXT WEEK… Gosh… there’s so much more to share, but for time. So, next week will be pole beans, teepees, tomatoes, okra and more.
Speaking of more, please never hesitate to share what you’d like more—or less of—in these disPATCHES and the occasional SNIPPETS.
SPEAKING OF FEEDBACK One person said they didn’t need to hear the personal bits… but hey… that’s us being us, and feels more personable.
MORE FEEDBACK AND SHOP-TALK (should you be interested, and because we know that some of you have websites): Another member complained about the ads on our website. But many people don’t realize the hundreds of hours that go into creating article content for free, especially when it involves research.
There are also monthly and annual costs to building and maintaining websites. So that’s the only way to not charge a subscription like some big news companies do or the home and garden magazines we all used to subscribe to back in the day.
Most people also don’t realize that you can work for several years without pay before the investment of time finally pays off with a website. So anyway… we don’t love ads either, when we visit websites, but like how magazines have ads on every other page… it’s the mainstay of survival for a website, so we THANK YOU for understanding (and clicking, when you see something you like! :-D).
If you have any other feedback or questions about how the online world works, we’re glad to answer anything that we can… and gardening stuff too! :-D
In Gratitude and Appreciation,
The Aldersons, Coleman, LeAura, Devani, & Nikolai ...and the Dogs: Zoya, Caspian, Zeus and Mystique the black cat
