In response to Tuesday’s email quote:
“The world is wide, and I will not waste my life in friction when it could be turned into momentum.”
~Frances Willard, educator, temperance reformer, suffragist, author, 1839-1898

Literally, "taking the path of least resistance."
Then I realized that my subject title for that email of, “Not Friction” could lead to misinterpretation of the intent of that quote and my intent in sharing it.
It’s not about no friction. Rather, it’s about using friction for transformation.
FRICTION VS THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE
Frances Willard didn’t say to avoid friction. Rather, to repurpose it for greater use. Progress actually requires friction.
Friction can not only be good but essential, especially when used positively to create the tension necessary to gain the traction to move upward and onward.
Without friction there is no fire and tires will not roll.
So taking the path of least resistance is often downhill rather than ascension. 😊
But, as with most things, there are exceptions, it’s just that personal development rarely includes less resistance.
“The human spirit will not invest itself in a compromise.”
