In the Sweetness 

The other day, Shannon Schofield posted in the iCreateDaily group a collection of art creations she had purchased from iCreateDaily community members. It was a lovely tribute to each artist as well as a wonderfully supportive and heartfelt thing to do.

Shannon’s acquisitions were a stellar example of supporting fellow creators, and an action that sends out ripples of positivity in all directions. 

The artists were delighted and some even sent extra bonus art. Shannon was delighted, her gift recipient for a commissioned painting will be delighted. 

Shannon gets to enjoy the art every day, and in so doing, there’s a part of her that sends a particle of appreciation out into the ethers and to the artists who created it.

If we buy something lovely that was mass produced in China, we might enjoy it, but there’s no way it can have the same positive ripple effect as supporting fellow artists and local businesses can.

There are Americans all over the country who have yard sales to get rid of excess stuff. There’s 1-800-Got-Junk to call to haul away your excess, and there’s Good Will donations. All to help us manage our extra STUFF.

What happens when we have less stuff, but acquire quality is that we have greater appreciation and we take greater care. We become more collectors of art than consumers of more and more stuff.

This is a good trend for us, and Shannon is actively living her version of a better future. Kudos… applause… gratitude, Dear Shannon, for your example.

Let’s keep on finding the good in the bad in ourselves and others. Do that, work at it, and we’re sure to find more of it... we will find more of the good.
