Never underestimate the power of 1 to make a difference.
The power of one can create massive change over time.
From one thing learned each day, (or each week), to one thing created each day (or each week), this has the effect of compounding into more than the sum of days of effort.
Similarly, one thing not done each day.. one thing procrastinated each week… has the effect of multiplying negatives.
To gain one pound a year sounds insignificant. However, in twenty years, that’s 20 extra pounds.
That one pound adds up to less health and fitness… less physical capacity.
When it comes to adding in one negative thing, the negatives magnify over time into a greater number of lesser capacity.
Whether that thing is poor dietary and lack of exercise or procrastinating doing the things we know we should do, to avoid that is to compound the negatives.
THE GOOD NEWS
Conversely, one good habit, one new thing learned, one task not procrastinated, multiplied over time, compounds into greater capacity, empowerment, peace and joy.
If we identify just ONE THING we need to do that we’ve been putting off… or ONE THING that we need to learn to make more progress, and then do that thing, today and tomorrow will be better.
NEGATIVE POUNDS
When it comes to the one pound a year concept, most adults actually tend to put on more than one pound per year from their 20’s onward. Some reach a maximum beyond which they won’t go. Others, allow the creep to continue.
What if we reversed that? If we need to lose weight, what if we simply set our goal of maintaining one or two pounds lighter each year until eventually, at 60 (or so) we are basically the same weight as when we were 20 or so?
Rather than presuming (and allowing) our bodies to grow bigger and weaker as we grow older, what if we reverse that and grow lighter and stronger?
The things we put off today become the burdens we bear.
The hard things we take on become the strength we wear.
Transformation through creation.
