Families Encouraged at Big Sandy Family Conference
Over 1,800 attendees and staff gathered in Big Sandy, Texas, for this year’s Family Conference, held April 23–28. Families and individuals came from more than 35 states and 6 countries to be encouraged by the speakers and fellowship. Children and young people participated in the Children’s Institute, Pre-EXCEL, the ALERT Cadet Challenge, and COMMIT: these programs taught principles from God’s Word in a memorable and engaging way. Special optional sessions were available for students, pastors, and young couples. A Saturday morning session dedicated to helping homeschooling families to center their lives and learning on the pages of Scripture was available, too. Read more . . .
COMMIT Mother/Daughter Conference Coming in August!
COMMIT was founded in 1999 to encourage young ladies to make Christ the first priority in their hearts and make wise decisions throughout their lives. The sessions and activities of COMMIT are planned with these goals in mind: to motivate young ladies and their moms to choose to seek God, to discover His desire and design for their lives, and to love Him with all their hearts! The next COMMIT Mother/Daughter Conference will be held at the International ALERT Academy in Big Sandy, Texas, from August 15-18, 2018. For more information, visit commitconferences.com.
On May 5–12, 2018, the Journey staff hosted their first Family Journey to the Heart at Eagle Springs in Skiatook, Oklahoma. Entire families were able to come seek the Lord together rather than attending Journeys individually. This first Family Journey was held at the beautiful, 700+ acre Eagle Springs campus. The first Family Journey participants were two families with children ranging from 19 to 5 years old, who came with a sincere desire to seek the Lord and deepen their relationship with Him. Learn more. . .
Dr. Jobe Martin graduated in 1986 from Dallas Theological Seminary with a Masters of Theology in Systematic Theology. He has spent the last twenty years studying the topic of Biblical Creation vs. Evolution and lectures frequently on the subject. Dr. Martin was a "traditional evolutionist," but his medical and scientific training would go through an evolution – rather, a revolution – when he began to study animals that challenged the scientific assumptions of his education. Thus began the "evolution" of a creationist. Dr. Martin will be speaking at the Northwoods June Family Conference, June 5-9, and the Sacramento Family Conference, July 3-6.
