A Secret to A More Successful Thanksgiving!
My prayer life was recently transformed by a Biblical truth that I had overlooked until God brought it to life as an exciting “rhema.” Because it has to do with thanking God, I thought it would be very appropriate to share with you during this joyful season.
I was aware that we are to pray in the name of Jesus, but I just naturally assumed that this meant adding His name to the end of my prayer by saying “In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
Recently, I have begun my prayers by focusing on the various names of Jesus and then going on to my requests. This is consistent with the sequence of the Lord’s Prayer: “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name” (Matthew 6:9).
My new approach to prayer:
“Our Father in heaven, we praise the name of Jesus, who is our Living Bread, our Daily Manna from heaven, our Provider, and our Sustenance. Thank you for this food and for all Your benefits given for Your Kingdom, Your power, and Your glory forever. Amen.”
In order to pray like this I am finding the need to learn as many different names of Jesus as I can. However, this is the very goal that God has for us. “O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together” (Psalm 34:3). It has given me a whole new focus on prayer. Rather than bringing my list of needs to God, I use my needs as an opportunity to praise and magnify the Name of the Lord.
I trust this will be an encouragement to you as you celebrate your Thanksgiving and then continue to make every day a day of thanksgiving.
