FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Islamic Association of North Texas (IANT) issues a statement on the recent executive order on immigration. DALLAS (Feb. 3, 2017) – Since our very founding, the Islamic Association of North Texas has supported immigrants and refugees, regardless of ethnicity, gender, culture or creed, who travel to the United States seeking a better life for them and their loved ones. Providing assistance to those in need is not only a fundamental Islamic value, but also one that is deeply rooted in the American social fabric, and one that we cherish. For that reason, we will continue to work with local, national, and international organizations, of varying faiths, to support these individuals and their families.
The safety and security of our nation and home are a priority. However, so should be accepting and supporting those who are not granted the privileges of security, prosperity and happiness that we enjoy in this nation. For this reason, we urge President Trump and his administration to balance the need for national security with the imminent humanitarian crisis that we as a nation must not ignore.
Our organization will continue to work with our interfaith partners to promote purposeful and intellectual dialogue. We will continue to maintain and create healthy relations with our neighbors and extended community members. Moreover, we will continue to strive to contribute positively towards the peace and prosperity of the United States of America, our home.
Established in 1969, the Islamic Association of North Texas is a not-for-profit religious organization dedicated to providing services to the more than 150, 000 Muslims and other community members living in the North Texas region, and promoting interfaith dialogue with neighboring communities.
