September 21, 2022 Hello,
2022 marches on, and we are winding down towards the end of the ALERT calendar for the year. We have Unit 67's Advancement on November 11 and Unit 66's Graduation a week later on November 18. We'd love to see you here for either or both of those events; if you are interested in attending either one let me know and I can help take care of registration and housing logistics.
This fall, Major Jesse Boulden will hit his one-year anniversary as director of the ALERT program. In my conversations with him lately, we've discussed some of the challenges of working at an organization like ALERT where everyone is there to support the ministry, and everyone also lives where they work. Those circumstances bring a unique set of challenges and conflicts into the workplace. People are not just working for a salary, they are giving up time and effort and emotional capital to support a ministry. That emotional involvement includes not just the people on payroll, but their spouses and families as well. Further, everyone on campus subconsciously projects their personal priorities, passions, and standards onto the ALERT program, which may or may not match the direction the leadership is trying to go. Each of these variables increases the complexity of leading an organization like ALERT. Please pray for Major Boulden as he tries to navigate an emotionally complex leadership landscape as he sets ALERT's direction for the next year/years to come. |
