As I look around the world that we live in today, a world full of broken families, substance abuse and addiction, wars in Europe and the Middle East, and a society retreating into social media, smartphones, and digital isolation, I am continually reminded of the need for programs like ALERT. Programs where young men are challenged, called up, equipped, discipled, and returned back to their communities to spread the light of the Gospel of Christ, and serve those in need.

Over the 15 years that I have been involved with the ALERT Academy, the most consistently raised reason that guys do not come to the ALERT Academy, or do not continue through to graduation, is the cost of training. It costs approximately $17,000 to complete Basic Training, 2nd, and 3rd Phase, and graduate from the program. Our desire is that no one would be held back from training due to financial need, and so we are actively increasing the amount of scholarships and financial aid that we are giving out. Thanks to generous donors, we were able to award 35 scholarships this year, totaling over $50,000, which was almost double our 2022 award total. Looking ahead to 2024, our goal is to award $100,000 in scholarships.
