As we approach this Thanksgiving season, this is the perfect
time to recenter our thinking on the grace of God that we receive on a daily
basis. Both the common grace that God gives us for our daily needs, and the
saving grace from our sins that we need even more than we need our daily bread.
As Paul Tripp said, "vibrant celebration of God’s grace always begins with
humble confession of your need for that grace." I am reminded of the lyrics of
the classic song "Give Thanks".
Give thanks with a grateful heart,
Give thanks to the Holy One,
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son.
And now, let the weak say, "I am strong,"
Let the poor say, "I am rich,
Because of what the Lord has done for us."
