If you are like me,
then you find it all too easy to go through life engrossed in your own world.
Over-occupied with the “urgency of the moment," or in getting the to-do
list completed. Or maybe it’s just staring at a screen in your hand, oblivious
to the real people, with real needs, who are all around you. Sadly, I often
miss these opportunities to impact people, because in the moment, I selfishly
look at them as “more work" for me to do.
But what is our life supposed to be all about? As Paul reminded
the church in Rome, “do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in
spirit, serve the Lord” Romans 12:11 ESV. As the church today, we have
this same call. And it is what we long to see built into each man that comes
through ALERT. Our aim is for each man to have an ever-growing fervency for the
Lord, to be obediently following His word, and to love and serve others, not
just on deployments, but as a way of life.
