When I was a student here at ALERT back in 2009, I was
constantly told that the training we received here was
"top-notch". Not having taken many classes outside of ALERT up to
that point, I would just shrug my shoulders and hope that was correct. A
few years later, I had the opportunity to go through Fire Academy at a
different school. That was when my eyes were opened to the dedication that the
ALERT staff had put into the quality of training they were trying to give.
The training they were conducting was not just about getting
through the class, passing a test, and getting a job. It was all those things,
and so much more. It was training with purpose. Just as in 2009, ALERT conducts
training today with a vision behind it: training men for a life of service, men
who bear the name of Christ. We want to equip men with training and tools so
that they may be fit for the Master's use in whatever good work they find
themselves in.
One additional thing to note: as many of you are aware, I
am/was the Commanding Officer over Basic Training before taking on the role of
Director for ALERT. Needless to say, that now leaves a gap in our leadership
team in the form of officer staff for Basic Training. Please be in prayer for
us as we look for a new Commanding Officer to fill that role. We are also
praying and planning for the future of our Fire/EMS training, and are looking
at hiring a full-time Fire/EMS instructor/coordinator. Continue to keep us in
your prayers as we look towards these two crucial roles in the ministry. Both
of these roles play such a huge part in the ALERT experience, and we want to
make sure we have the right people in place.
