The Cambridge English Dictionary defines
Integrity as “the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.” That
sounds easy on paper, but how one responds under pressure is where the rubber
meets the road. Take two Biblical examples. Ananias and Sapphira valued
acceptance more than integrity and it cost them their lives. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow to Nebuchadnezzar’s idol and were thrown into
the furnace, yet their lives were spared and they were rewarded with
the presence of God.
Two opportunities, two decisions,
and two dramatically different outcomes. Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego will always be revered as examples of
faith and integrity, while Ananias and Sapphira are remembered for the
consequences of their lie. May integrity be the foundation we
build upon as we seek to impact the lives of others for God and His kingdom.
Blessings,
