“Whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:26-28 ESV

The Christian life is one of service. Even in the scripture quoted above we see a radical denial of self. Instead of focusing on ourselves, we should aim to serve as Jesus served. When was the last time you did something just to serve others to the glory of God, and not for any personal gain? I know for myself, serving to be recognized is easy, but to do things so that others benefit and only God see it is a test of true my character. May we be a people whose lives reflect the character of Jesus Christ.
