Last Wednesday, much of the Battalion was out on deployment, so I took the rest of the guys out to coffee for our weekly Battalion Impact Meeting. It was nothing too remarkable—just me, a coffee shop, and the guys. But we had a great time—laughing at stories from ALERT and our lives back home, and sharing about what we’re learning in our personal Bible time. In fact, after we put our orders in, I got pulled into a conversation with someone else in the shop. When I got back to our table, the guys had already begun discussing something in the Bible that one of them had been reading and didn’t understand. That’s one of the great things about being part of the ALERT brotherhood. God often gives the men here strong relationships with each other, built around meaningful things. Camaraderie truly does sharpen a man. |
