At ALERT, one of our goals is to help men develop a service mindset. As Chad Brand put it, “Service at its best is worship.” That echoes James’s words when he points to service as a key component of "pure religion" (James 1:27). When Christ washed his disciple’s feet, he said that by doing so, “I have given you an example” (John 13:15 ESV). He took on the role of a servant to provide that example for us. When we think about the command to imitate Christ, and see the example of serving that he set, we see that service is a necessary part of our faith. Our lives are filled with opportunities to serve those around us. Let us look for those opportunities to serve, and in that service worship our creator.
