For the believer, serving God is not a burden but a privilege. Suppose God let you work in any political or business position in the world, but wouldn’t let you work for Him in His kingdom. Or suppose He let you choose anyone in the world to serve and know intimately, but wouldn’t let you serve and know Him? Or suppose He let you do anything you wanted with your life, but you could never know Him?
Even the best of these things is miserable slavery in comparison with the glad privilege of serving God. That’s why the Psalmist could say “For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalm 84:10 ESV |
