Every year in our first staff meeting of the year I give my team a word. A single word or idea that I want them to chew on or look towards practicing in the coming year. One year it was the word "progress"; one year it was “resilience.” This year, my word is "peace."
Jesus comes into the world as the "Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6). In his sermon on the mount, Jesus tells us "Blessed on the peacemakers" (Matthew 5:9). Before his ascension, he tells his disciples "Peace I leave with you" (John 14:27), and Paul tells us in Romans, "therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1, ESV).
As we continue on through another year of training and forging men, pray that no matter what comes our way, we would have the peace that passes understanding. Pray that we, and each one of the men in training, will have the peace with God that can only come through Jesus Christ.
