As we have watched the Olympics unfold in Japan, it has showcased the incredible talent of the athletes competing. That talent is only visible on the Olympic stage after years of diligent work, unwavering discipline, and the constant honing of their craft. As the apostle Paul said, “do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 ESV. This is the ultimate purpose of our training at ALERT: to impress into each man the goal of honoring Christ Jesus as King so that we may cross the finish line of life to the jubilant announcement of “Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Master.”
