Our Mobile Response Team continues to travel around the country, assisting with Father/Son camps, visiting churches to share about our programs as well as assisting with local service projects whenever needed. We take particular joy in ministering to the widows, the less fortunate, and other like-minded agencies in our area and always find the experience rewarding.
Recently we received a call from a partnering agency asking us to send men to fill leadership roles in the recovery work of Hurricane Michael. What a privilege it was to contact our alumni and offer them opportunities to serve in this capacity and as a result a number of them responded to the call. The vice president of the organization instructed his managers to accept any ALERT man we recommended because of the outstanding reputation ALERT has in working with them in the past and a high level of trust in their competency. I share that not for our own glory but as an illustration of the importance of not only training men with skills, but building strong character and a Biblical foundation into their lives. In addition to filling these leadership roles we will also be sending a team out from Big Sandy to assist in the recovery efforts this coming week. Please pray that many of those who our team assists would find their consolation in Christ and come to know Him the midst of this catastrophe.
One final reminder: There will be a Veterans Banquet and Conference being held on our campus November 8-10th, 2018. If you are interested in attending, please contact our Camps and Conferences department at 903-636-2000. We also have our ALERT 25th Anniversary reunion scheduled for February 15-17, 2019. If you are an alumnus, we encourage you to make plans to attend.
All we do here would not be possible without your faithfulness in financially supporting us throughout the year. Thank you for whatever you are able to give to this work and may God bless you richly with all spiritual blessing in the remaining months of 2018.
In Him,
