Subject: ALERT Communiqué | August 2017

Greetings from ALERT!

It has been a busy summer for programs on the campus in Big Sandy and I wanted to give all of you an update.

In June our annual program for young ladies, STEP was in session with 37 ladies in attendance. Special thanks go to Abbi Bergeron and Emma Kordik who faithfully – and skillfully lead this program each year. We greatly appreciate those who have a calling for such ministries and give of their time to serve others.

At the end of June our battalion returned for their next phase of training. Those that finished Basic entered Emergency Response Training (ERT). They just finished their first week of deployment working alongside Samaritan’s Purse in southeastern Wisconsin. That area of the state was hit with heavy rains which resulted in the flooding of many homes along the Fox River. What a privilege it was to not only assist homeowners in their cleanup but to be able to share the gospel with them, present each family with a Bible and to finish each project with the singing of a hymn of encouragement. Six people have come to faith in Christ as a result of this deployment and all praise goes to God.

Continue to pray for both ERT and our advanced training Leadership course in their classes and travels. As I write our leadership class is on their scheduled tour to the Washington D.C. area – a much anticipated highlight of the class. The ERT unit is now in Florida for a two week dive class followed by another week of deployment in East Baton Rouge working on a rebuild.

Presently QUEST, our program for young teen age men has reached the half-way point of a four-week session and is going strong despite the challenges of running such an event in the Texas heat. Daily outdoor training and activities along with spiritual applications and messages in the evening have been a great encouragement to these guys as they bond with their leaders and others in the class and strengthen their walk as believers.

In just over five weeks our next unit for Basic Training will begin. We covet your prayers for men as they prepare to attend as well as for those that are in the application process. If you know of young men over 17 that have considered ALERT in the past, or perhaps have never heard of the program please help us in getting the word out. The need is great in our country to “Forge Extraordinary Men for the Kingdom” and each one of you can be a part of that vision by spreading the word.

Thanks for your continued support and may God bless you richly in the coming weeks.

In Him,

Colonel Marv Behr
