Subject: ALERT Alumni Update | April 2024

April 24, 2024

Dear Alumni,

It has been a busy few weeks here at the ALERT Academy, and we are only halfway through the spring semester.

Unit 70 had a bit of a wet Survival Week, and somebody asked me if I felt sorry for them. To which I showed them the following picture and answered: "Nope! Got to earn your stripes like the rest of us!" That's me as the Recruit in Unit 40 in the top picture on the left-hand side, and Unit 70 in the bottom picture.

Please continue to pray for the Recruits and the Cadre as they progress through Basic Training. Next week they will be hiking their Endurance Hike in Oklahoma. If you are interested in hiking the Endurance Hike with a future unit, reach out to Lt. Winkler (swinkler@alertacademy.com) for details on hiking as an alumnus. We typically take 3-6 alumni along each hike. Besides being a fun trip (if you like breaking your body), it is a unique way to reconnect with ALERT, especially if you have a friend/brother/son in Basic Training.

As we sprint towards the end of the quarter, we have a lot of units traveling or deployed. Between now and the end of May we will send men from the Battalion to Pennsylvania (Missions arrived last weekend), Louisiana (EMT arrived last weekend), Alaska, and Iraq, in addition to EMT doing two weeks of clinicals in Longview. Please pray for safety, good service, and training opportunities while our men are deployed.

Alumni Classes

We now offer two opportunities for Alumni to return and participate in training. You will find two different dive class options here. We aim to offer more Alumni classes in the future, so be on the lookout for those as well.

Finally, please be in prayer for the family and friends of Zane Schaeffer (Unit 63). His memorial service will be held this Saturday at 1:30 pm in south Tyler, TX. You can read his obituary here.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we "Forge On!"
