It's Hygge Time!

Your Week #3 Challenge Awaits...

This month's challenge has a "comfort" theme. Let's explore what that could mean for you...

This month's energy has a similar pattern as last month, but it is turned up a notch or two. So even though the new moon cycle isn't quite over and I'm still calling in a "holistic completion" message for this week, I am finding myself needing comfort more and more these days. I know the value of comfort and I'm using it daily!

So let's explore how to create comfort for you this month as the world shifts into new dynamics and we continue to learn things that aren't comfortable. Let's do this together as we use comfort to create safe spaces for us during this time.

For me, comfort is the feeling of home. Simon & Garfunkel likened home to be where love is waiting silently for you.

While this isn't always the case for some people or hasn't been. Maybe, just maybe Hygge can create that feeling for more of us.

Hygge often has suggestions on how to use decor to bring comfort to your space. There are a few articles on the blog (see the link at the bottom of this email) that go through some tips for adding hyggelig (hygge-like) decor to your space.

This month we are going to explore not only the outer comfort within a space but also the value of being comfortable and creating a psychological comfort for ourselves when needed.

In Week #1, your challenge was to look at the spaces you have within your home and your office. Is there an element of hyggelig comfort that helps to calm you and bring in a feeling of safety? Did you create your hyggekrog or change yours up?

Last week, your challenge was to reflect on how you'd like to feel throughout your day. I know that this might seem silly or even near impossible to explore when you live a busy life, but knowing how you'd like to feel experiencing your life, helps you narrow down where to start in making changes for your life.

This week, your challenge is to find ways to simplify your expectations around the holidays. Often we place too many expectations upon ourselves, thinking that is what creates the magic of the holiday.

What if the magic of the holiday was being able to enjoy the visit with friends and family (even over a video chat)?

What if the magic of the holiday was laughing with the kids as they crush you in the game, instead of listening to the fun from the kitchen?

I know the family has their favorites...I get that. But what if you were able to prep some things in advance or change things up so you were part of the family fun activities.

Years ago, we simplified the meals. Breakfast was an overnight slow cooker recipe that we prepared while Santa filled the stockings. Then we like to play games or do a family activity during the day, so it was appetizers and snacks during that time. Then the big meal for dinner.

I found that I could enjoy the day more, and actually be part of it. Over the years the meal prep has become teamwork as well, which is its own Hyggelig moment.

Being able to simplify the holidays allows us to feel more comfortable in those moments. When we can connect with others and allow ourselves to enjoy those moments, we find more comfort within the holidays. This is my wish for you.

I won't be sending out the next challenge email until after Christmas, so I wanted to both thank you for being here with me along this Hygge journey, and to wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Remember - As an added challenge this month, I'd love to connect with you! Feel free to tag me on IG or Facebook Stories to share your Hygge challenge activities. I'd love to celebrate with you!

Until next time, see you in the Simply Hygge Facebook group!
