Have taken and received a passing grade in a college-level Math worth 3 credits AND a college-level English class worth 3 credits OR
Demonstrate competency by passing the College Level Equivalent Proficiency (CLEP). A minimum score of 45 is required for both the Math and English sections.
Obtain professional-level CPR and NRP certification
Prospective Students Must:
Submit a completed application including the following:
Birth Certificate or Driver’s License.
High School and College transcripts.
Current (as of the first day of school) NRP and CPR certifications.
Current physical health form (including a request for any disability accommodations).
Typed 600-700 word essay titled “Why I Want to be a Midwife”.
Submit 1 Professional and 2 personal reference letters
Submit a $150 application fee (non-refundable).
Complete an interview with our admissions committee.
What are we all about?
At HSM, we teach our students to use the Midwives Model of Care™ when caring for expectant families. The Midwives Model of Care™ is all about nurturing, holistic care of pregnant women. The Midwives Model of Care™ includes: monitoring the physical, psychological and social well-being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle, providing the mother with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support, minimizing technological interventions and, identifying and referring women who require obstetrical attention.
