Blessing
of the Backpacks // THIS SUN @ 10:30am // main hall // Education is a huge blessing. But like most
things that are worthwhile, it’s also really challenging. So as students are
heading back to schools and universities and training centers we are going to
take a few moments to pray for all of the instructors and teachers and
professors and bus drivers and counselors and custodians and students of all
ages who will be working hard this fall and throughout the school year. If you
are a student or work for an institution of learning, please be prepared to
join the others in receiving a special blessing led by Becky Boyer, our

Collecting Donations for The Lofts // THIS SUN // Maggie
and her team are hard at work revamping our Lofts missional urban
retreat ministry: revising the programming, redesigning the website,
and refurbishing the third-floor apartment where our overnight guests
stay. To improve the experience for our guests, they are collecting NEW,
WHITE bed linens (twin size), pillows, and bath towels. Please bring your

Membership Class // Wednesdays starting SEP 6 @ 7PM // main hall // This four-week series is for you if you want to make a deeper commitment to our mission by joining HMBFC. We'll explore the story of Jesus and the story of HMBFC. We'll talk about what it means to profess faith, to participate regularly, and to give joyfully. We'll share food and get to know each other better. And if, after four weeks, you want to make a formal commitment to HMBFC we will welcome you into membership and pray for you during a worship service in October! Click here to signup.

Kintsugi
Worship // SUN
SEP 10 @ 7PM // main hall // Kintsugi Worship brings mental health and spirituality
together so that we find healing in our communion with God and with one
another. Kintsugi is a Japanese art form in which breaks and repairs are
treated as part of the object's history. Broken ceramics are carefully mended
by artisans with a lacquer resin mixed with precious metals. The repairs are

Art Nights // start
MON SEP 11@ 7pm // youth room // All artists and aspiring artists: come
together for an evening to create and hang out on the second Monday of each
month. Bring your own supplies or use what’s available. Bring a personal work
in progress or start something new – maybe even something that could be used in
an upcoming Sunday worship gathering! Gail Thompson, Laura Phillips, and Patty

Potluck // SAT
SEP 16 @ 9:30am // main hall // Attention parents of children: there will
be adult conversation. That might be all you need to know. But also: it will be
a community conversation
on how to best support the younger members of our church in this next coming
year. Bring your favorite
breakfast food to share. After we eat, there will be childcare for the youngest
kids in the nursery in order for us to dialogue about what it means to belong
