some neighbors, make some new friends, and bring your family to a free
community event including local live music, fresh food & firepit. Hamburgers,
hot dogs, and grilled vegetables will be served throughout the evening

the event will be moved indoors to the church’s main hall. Email dylan@hotmetalbridge.com.

Sickle Cell Awareness Blood Drive // SUN AUG 13 @ 10AM-3PM // parking lot // Elijah
Henderson recently reached a milestone birthday – sweet 16. Every birthday is a
reason to celebrate for Elijah because he suffers from severe sickle cell
anemia. Life expectancy for patients with this condition is short. His mother,
Asia Jones, wants to raise awareness of sickle cell anemia, and also help
replenish some of the blood supply that has been available when Elijah needed
it. The Central Blood Bank mobile unit will be taking donations in the parking
lot during worship on August 13. Email mike@hotmetalbridge.com.
The Opioid Crisis: A Community Gathering // WED AUG 16 @ 7:30PM // main hall // Addiction
to heroin and other opioids has become a national crisis that touches
everyone. It’s in our streets, in our schools, and in our homes. HMBFC is hosting an open gathering for anyone who is
looking to raise awareness, feel compassion, and take action about this
health crisis. Carmen Capozzi, a member of the governor’s
Advisory Council on Drug & Alcohol Abuse, will lead the discussion
along with representatives from Allegheny County and members of Sage’s
Army, a nonprofit organization that Mr. Capozzi founded to raise drug
awareness and prevent addiction. There will be time for
questions and discussions following the presentations. A collection will
be taken at the end of the program from anyone who wants to support the
work of Sage’s Army. Email dave@hotmetalbridge.com.
