| Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community 2018 BUDGET
| Our Finance Team has created this narrative budget to help you understand how our expenses bring the five principles of our church's mission into reality.
| | |
Our Mission We will be a bridge to Jesus Christ by participating in communion,
welcoming all into community, listening and having compassion, growing in our faith and sharing
Christ’s story with the community of the South Side, the surrounding neighborhoods, and the
world.
| Our Mission In Action Below are highlights from each of our five areas of ministry.
Participating
in communion is at core of all we do. Because
Jesus invited all into the kingdom of God we invite everyone to share in
communion with Christ. If
on Sunday mornings you’ve ever had goosebumps while we’re singing, or you’ve
been moved by hearing someone’s prayers, or you’ve been encouraged by a sermon,
or enjoyed eating (or serving) a lunch, or your heart’s been strangely warmed
by The Lord’s Supper then you’ve experienced communion!
We
welcome all into community.Because
Jesus called diverse people to be his disciples we seek to welcome ALL
regardless of: Christian perspective, education, economic condition, race,
gender, national origin, physical and mental abilities, sexual orientation,
gender identity, age, marital status, or family structure. Hopefully
you’ve caught a glimpse of this beloved community at The Table, our free dinner
on Tuesday & Thursday nights.
We
listen and have compassion. Because
Jesus had compassion on all who approached him, we acts of loving kindness to
everyone we encounter. Our
vision is to see wholeness – no more lonely, hungry, hopeless, or homeless in
Pittsburgh – and for every person to understand their belovedness. That
happens one person at a time – often through our weekly outreach to the
homeless.
We grow in our faith. When we participate in the mission of HMBFC,
we experience belonging and transformation, are challenged spiritually and changed
on personal and social levels, and given opportunities to serve. Adults experience this through our weekly
Spiritual Formation Kit email, which the staff works diligently to connect to
our weekly worship experience. And kids experience this through newly
revamped children & youth ministries.
We
tell the story of Christ in ways that are imaginative, passionate &
exuberant. We
are reflective and encourage curiosity and dialogue. We
strive for authenticity which can often be messy, funny, and unconventional. We
are sincere and conscientious in our desire to be a bridge to Jesus Christ. Providing
ASL interpretation during worship is one way we ensure that the story will be
heard. |
