Implicit Bias Workshop Wednesday, May 11 from 6-9pm Research has shown that Implicit Bias affects the behavior of all
people—no exceptions. These bias are so ingrained into our subconscious
that we are unaware of their presence, yet they influence how we
behave. Implicit bias can cause us to behave in ways that are not
harmonious with our strongly held convictions or beliefs.
This Implicit Bias workshop, with Dr. David Harris of the University of
Pittsburgh School of Law as the keynote speaker, provides the
opportunity to learn what implicit bias is and how our behavior may be a
result. While implicit bias is present in most dimensions of life, as
anti-racists we desire to be more aware of implicit biases related to
race so that our actions do not have to be controlled by them.
This event, hosted by the Western PA Conference Anti-Racism Team, will be at Monroeville UMC. Cost is $20, includes dinner. Both WPAUMC (a49always@gmail.com) and Pittsburgh Presbytery (ATeter@pghpresbytery.org) are offering scholarships. Get in touch for help with covering costs.
