I know, surprise surprise—I'm here to remind you that it's a potent time to pause, reflect, and realign—but it really is! 🌿
You can do this reflection in whatever way feels right for you. Maybe it’s taking a quiet walk, lighting a candle, or simply taking a moment while sitting in traffic or waiting at the hairdresser. There’s no “right” way—just the way that feels best for you.
The equinox marks a powerful shift, when day and night balance before progressing through to the opposite inward/outward, light/dark, yin/yang expression—reminding us that life naturally moves in cycles. As we transition from light to darkness (or darkness to light in the Southern Hemisphere), we’re offered the chance to reset and reconnect to our own inner rhythm.
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel disconnected from these natural cycles. I used to live completely out of sync with nature's patterns until I began creating rituals at the punctuations of the moon, seasons, and cosmic (solstices and equinoxes) cycles. Now I find I live with deep reverence and connection to the natural cycles. In a practical sense that has manifested in greater patience, greater seizing of opportunities, greater capability to let go and feeling less anxious about who I am and more grounded in my authentic self.
So, as we step into this new cycle of darkness, let’s start by clearing out some cobwebs in the subconscious mind. But how do we bring the subconscious into the light? We have to reflect and identify the patterns playing out in our lives.

Let’s dive in. Take a few moments to reflect on the last 7–10 days as you answer these questions: When your inner critic was talking (or shouting!) at you, what was the main topic of frustration—was it a relationship, health, work, spirituality, or a personal project?
When the inner critic chimed in, how did you feel in your body? Where did you feel it?
In moments of challenge, did you freeze, flee, or fawn?
What did you turn to for escapism? (It could be social media, Netflix, food, alcohol, shopping, sleeping or even avoiding tasks—no judgment!)
What’s the root thought your inner critic kept pushing?
What behaviors did this thought pattern create?
Now, think about what the opposite thought and behavior would be. What would it feel like to live from that place instead?
