I'd like to showcase the pets of our "Healthy Consumers" for other patients who are having a hard day. I'm thinking a digital picture frame on our big table.
Why, you might ask?
Recently, A patient reminded me of the power of laughter in Physical Therapy.
A patient, who we will call "Sally," came in one stiffer than usual.
She'd had a lot going on over the past week, and some new family stressors, so it was understandable.
I instantly recalled that we had a new very silly pictures of our puppy, Hope.
One picture was of Hope falling asleep with her food bowl in her mouth.
(In case you were wondering, this is a regular occurrence.)
As I showed this patient the photo, her whole outlook on the day changed.
Despite her pain, she erupted in laughter.
Sally shared it with her family and friends.
I knew (even with all the skilled work we do here), Sally needed something simple that day.
