| Hi Friend,
New and exciting research confirms that our brains are plastic (“Neuroplasticity”), meaning they can constantly change (and improve — At ANY age!). This is great news for anyone suffering from physical or mental health struggles and those working with a therapist.
When we repeatedly focus on a particular thought in our imaginations, our brains start to believe it and make physical changes within its structure. (This is why, over time, mental states can become mental traits).
The primary cells within our brains responsible for this are called neurons. Neurons have fingerlike projections that communicate with other neurons in a complex network.
|
| | The more we focus on a particular thought, it reinforces or weakens current connections between neurons.
With enough practice and repetition, you can form new connections within your brain permanently.
This can work for or against you, depending on what you focus on.
|
| What does this mean?
The beauty of life is that you have a choice from moment to moment. It’s never too late to change (thoughts, behaviors, how we view ourselves or our habits: exercise, eating well, etc.)
We can choose to catastrophize and imagine every scenario turning into a disaster, or we can visualize and see ourselves as healthy, and vibrant, even if that’s not our current reality.

Over time, you will begin to form new connections in your brain, that will become further reinforced the more you focus on them.
Thoughts become emotions. Emotions become behaviors. Behaviors become habits. Habits become our reality.
You can probably see where I’m going with this.
Your thoughts are far more powerful than you may realize.
When you look for the good in every situation, no matter how bleak it looks, you will attract circumstances that act as a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Some call this the law of attraction. Some call this God or faith, but I promise you it works.
Make it a priority to choose your words carefully each day. Your brain is listening. Don’t obsessively do this, but act as a curious observer, so you can harness this miraculous gift of neuroplasticity that we’ve been given.
It can make all the difference when going through a crisis or an extended difficult period of suffering. I can personally attest to this.
|
| | Let us know how you’re doing and if there’s anything we can do for you right now.
Much love to you all.
