Hey Friend,
With winter on the retreat, there's one thing I hope you'll keep in mind this spring as you begin to move more:
START LOW AND GO SLOW.
What do I mean? Don't make the mistake of being a weekend warrior and suddenly going from Couch-to-5k in 48 hours.
I know that example is a little extreme, but remember:
Your body doesn't like sudden changes.
If you've been inactive for months at a time (or longer), loading up that high intensity exercise video or "boot camp" class at the YMCA might not be the best idea for you!
It might feel like your knees, back, or other joints are stiff... like they need a little WD-40. (Well, obviously that's an expression, please don't use WD-40 on / in your joints), nonetheless, gradual NON-PAINFUL movement can be like WD-40 to the joints )
Oh and one more thing: If it's difficult to get moving, take the approach of "something is better than nothing." You'll often find that this has a positive snowball effect.
If you still can't seem to figure out how to move with greater ease or less discomfort on your own and are looking to be more active and mobile in the spring ... maybe it feels like your back or knees "need a little WD-40?"
