| Northern Dutchess Hospital offers diabetes prevention program |
| You have not felt quite right lately. You are tired and aren’t sure why. You are extra thirsty and crave sweets more. You’ve gained weight around your midsection and your clothes fit a little tighter.
These are signs of prediabetes, which means you may be at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. The National Diabetes Prevention Program offered at Northern Dutchess Hospital can help you make lasting changes and reduce your diabetes risk.
The next National Diabetes Prevention Program starts Monday, March 12, and runs for 16 consecutive weeks and with bi-monthly follow-ups. The complimentary, educational program focuses on modest, healthy lifestyle changes. Sessions are offered from 4:30-5:30 p.m. or 6-7 p.m. in the hospital’s cafeteria conference room, 6511 Springbrook Ave., Rhinebeck, NY.
This program is for people with risk factors such as excessive weight, lack of regular exercise, age 45 or older, family history of type 2 diabetes or a history of gestational diabetes during pregnancy.
