Hey Folks – LtCol Al here,
First of all, I want to thank all of our supporters over the past year. So if I didn’t say it before, Happy New Year!!!
As we enter this New Year, each day brings new opportunities, new possibilities and I’m sure like many you’ve said to yourself, “This is the year!”.
► THIS time I’m going to keep my promise to myself and learn a martial art.
► THIS is the year I take charge for ME and for my family.
Like myself you’re probably saying:
“I’m older now and while I’m still able to get around pretty well, I’ve lost a step or two. If I have to deal with a younger, stronger more agile person how do I move to compensate?”
Trust me, I get it!
So the real question is, what do I study?
To move and fight without effort…
Let’s face it: from the first time you probably saw a Bruce Lee movie, to the “Jason Bourne” series of films, the idea of possessing almost “invincible” fighting skills has been a long sought after desire. Who has never thought of being able to fight like that?
I know I have.
The skills demonstrated in movies, the speed, the coordination, seem to transcend time and space. They seem to be able to move without thought and almost effortlessly before they strike.
Ironically, you see from time-to-time people of limited skill moving in a way that throws off their attacker’s movement before they strike. (Heck--don’t take my word for it--look at some of the videos on YouTube).
Why?
It’s because whether through training or just “street savvy”, they know that if they move where they just “give it away”, people will intuitively react in some manner to counter their intentions.
They had somehow figured out what the Masters know, that by being fluid or loose in both body and mind they’re able to move more naturally, preventing them from winding up or engaging in excessive movement before they strike or evade.
Little did they know this is the same kind of movement that people at the highest levels of the martial arts (regardless of fighting system) know.
TRAINING FOR COMBATIVE SPONTANEITY AND CREATIVITY
You know, like most people, I used to think that the way you deal with a stronger, larger or faster opponent was to either develop your body physically in order to challenge / counter their strength or train in a collection of rigidly structured techniques and countermoves to negate their size, speed or strength.
Lifting heavy weights, bag work, doing speed drills, knuckle push-ups etc.--I’ve done it all. While this seems logical it really doesn’t solve the problem. How does that work against someone who has greater size, speed and strength?
Also, how do you make these technical countermoves work when your attacker is just going for it?
Rare is the individual who can do this using that training paradigm. And that's the truth!
I have to tell you that even as a life-long martial artist, combat veteran, and self-defense expert, in the past at times I had been at a loss for answers and as perplexed as the next guy.
It wouldn’t be until after years of dedicated training in Karate that I would be introduced to Guided Chaos Grandmaster John C. Perkins by a mutual friend, that the scales would fall from my eyes.
You see, when you muscle up or attempt to control your attacker's motion you essentially telegraph everything you're going to do, or your “intentions”. More to the point, when you do so you’re giving them everything they need to make their actions against you work. You’re giving away the store!
The only way to counter this is to learn how to deal with and neutralize and attacker’s movements by learning to become loose and pliable in your body. Now when I say pliable, I don't mean you become like a limp noodle. Rather your movements and reactions should be like spring steel or a delicately set mousetrap.
It should take no more than a feather's touch to set you off towards a strike--or to completely change direction, abandon a blocked strike and change into another position to hit from.
Think of it this way: generally speaking, there's always someone stronger than you, and it may likely be your attacker. After all, YOU don’t get to pick and choose your attacker. Also, remember: the bad guy gets a vote and will not fight fair. So why fight muscle with muscle?
If you fight nature you lose. So why muscle a bigger and stronger attacker?
While many arts such as the internal arts attempt to perfect this, for one reason or another they all fall short!
The question you’re probably asking now is, “Okay, that’s fine and dandy but how do you do it?”
What is the Answer?
Guided Chaos.
You see Guided Chaos has a proven modality of training to develop all of the attributes needed to accomplish this in a relatively short period of time.
In other words, we teach people what many martial arts masters, sport fighters and savvy street fighters are actually doing, even if they are not aware that they are doing it.
Some will tell you that in order to achieve such skills requires tens of thousands of hours to achieve this.
Nonsense!
Such thinking only serves to close off your mind and steal from your training.
Guided Chaos shatters this illusion!
You see, what we are doing differently is instead of spending years and years on non-combative movements, we are taking lethally effective strikes—and integrating them with “natural movement”.
Sure this takes practice--but it is totally doable for virtually anyone since we train people to fight within the body they already have, and do not train people to do unrealistic things that wouldn’t work in a real confrontation for your life even if you had the athleticism to do them.
Guided Chaos is a complete self-defense system, and as a purely American style of fighting, Guided Chaos turns the entire self-defense/martial art learning paradigm upside down.
You learn the most sought after and advanced martial concepts the Masters know RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING that few practitioners, “if ever” learn.
No mysticism, no magic, no nonsense--everything is based 100% on physics and human physiology. We have no secrets and hold nothing back.
What makes these things possible is "exquisite movement"... turning your body into a finely tuned weapon. This is the hidden secret of every great martial artist... EXQUISITE MOVEMENT!
The Masters know this!
As a martial artist your body is your weapon, and more than any particular style or technique, using your body well is the difference between victory or defeat.
But rare are those who can actually teach you how to do it.
Let’s face it life is short… for most of us, too short...and the one thing you don’t get back is TIME.
Every moment of every day you’re burning time off of your existence so how you use your time is up to you. • If you had to protect yourself or your loved ones, how good would you want to be? • How effective would you want to be able to strike? • How elusive would you want to be? • How quickly would you want to end it?
This is what I’m talking about!
|
| Now…
► Maybe you’re a person that has always had a desire to study a martial art but for one reason or another you just never felt you could devote the time necessary to become skilled.
► Maybe you’re a person who because of the popularity of certain arts never felt you were athletic enough to train in a martial art.
► Then again, maybe you’re a martial artist who has trained for years. Yet you’ve always had that “nagging feeling” in the back of your mind that, while you felt skilled at the moves, you weren’t confident you could pull them off against an unwieldy attacker.
The question is:
What do you want to do?
