  • A tremendously instructive display of Contact Flow subtlety.
  • John shows simultaneous yield and strike choices including Ghosting and Destructions.
  • You can’t think you’re “ghosting” if you’re not following, feeling and evading their intention while you’re hitting.
  • Ghosting is not thinking about getting out of the way, it’s feeling what would be out of the way.
  • You’re not “preventing”-- you’re following, which gets you ahead of their motion because you’re feeling the openings evolve moment by moment.
  • Again, John shows you’re not just blocking, you’re yielding while following, which allows simultaneous striking using a “Sword and Shield” principle (essentially Moving Behind a Guard while simultaneously Bringing Weapons Online).
  • Although not specifically mentioned, John demonstrates unlimited Tool Replacement while flowing. Watch for it! 
  • John shows multiple examples of simultaneous elbow deflect/destruction, along with Pivot Striking (using elbow as a reference pivot to launch chops/hammerfists within same motion).
