Review of our last Seminar, "Guided Chaos Groundfighting Part II"
Just getting back from the weekend at the groundfighting seminar...I can only tell you that the work techniques and realistic approach taught  at this seminar is as real as it gets. I can tell you that as I rethink my options for training in the future my thinking has dramatically changed. Techniques and scenario based training have limited if little utility in training for the real violence that can happen in the real world...Looking for peace and love in people and becoming a better person are important self development aspects that one can grow from practicing martial arts but you can't confuse the ideal with the reality of the hard streets that have no compassion for the weak or unprepared. It is your responsibility not your sensei's or sifu's to keep yourself and your family safe, and no elevation to religion or faith in a martial art will save you....Only your ability to decide to make the right choice of how to invest your valuable time and money to train for the ugly reality of potential violence in the steets will make the difference...Up to now my training in aikido has given several attributes that are useful but not complete in dealing with violence....I have a lot of homework to do and will be dedicating my time and energy toward learning the KCD attributes...thank you for a great seminar

A MESSAGE FROM A FEDERAL SECURITY OFFICER (AND KCD STUDENT)
TO OUR SUBSCRIBERS:

"To all of you out there who do not have the advantage of experiencing GC (Guided Chaos) by working with the Masters and are serious about learning the art, I would suggest that you contact Bob Miller (1st degree, Oregon) and Ken Freeman (1st degree, Chicago) and ask them for insight on how they went about starting their training and advancing in the art without everyday hands on teaching from the Masters of GC. 

They started their training reading the book and watching the videos.  Both of these guys need to be saluted for their dedication and ability to adapt to the principals of GC.    I am sure that there are others among you that have the ability to learn from the book and videos also, but since you have never had a certified instructor work with you you cannot be sure that you are grasping and understanding the principals correctly. 

I send this not to discourage all of you out there but to offer you a suggestion that may help enhance you in your learning process.  I had the pleasure of working with Bob during his recent trip to NY and I have heard Lt Col Al repeatedly tell us about Ken and his growth in GC.  So these guys know what they are doing!   However, as Ari Kandel states in his terrific training Blog, everyone out there should try to attend a class or seminar in NY.  The upcoming seminar "The 5 second fight" is sure to be one that everyone will not want to miss.  Trust me those of us in NY are looking forward to this seminar with great anticipation and from listening to John in class briefly (he doesn't want to reveal too much in advance about what he has in mind) describe what's in store anyone attending this seminar is in for a "real treat".  

As I scroll through the KCD Training Group section of the website, I see several people who are in the same area (i.e. San Francisco) so I would like to make the following suggestion....one of you should attempt to get others in your area together and see if you can find others who would be interested in getting together and hosting a seminar.  The newsletters state that John and/or other certified instructors would be willing to come to your area to put on a seminar if there was enough interest (at least 20 people).  In fact this could be accomplished regionally so if someone could solicit other's interest-- let's say in the California area or the total Northwest area.  The same in the Texas area or the Southwest. I am sure that Matt Kovsky would be willing to help you to solicit interest in a seminar in whatever part of the country you live in by using the website, newsletter or forum to assist you.    In the meantime everyone continue on with your training and much success to you all."
