The U.S. Marshal Who Taught John Perkins...
"FASTEST DRAW IN THE COUNTRY"
"The training I received covered a lot of area. Much of it was basic "point shooting" while the scenario stuff was done ad hoc.
I worked at Geigy Chemical Co. on weekends in 1967 and '68 as a Burns Guard where Loughnan was moonlighting. I was 16 years old and had a waiver of sorts from the company to work as a guard. We had hours of time between security rounds to work out together. I taught him some martial arts while he taught me shooting technique with dummy rounds. Later live fire practice was done in various areas outside the city.
Tom was no joke when it came to handling a Colt 1911. He shot with full power 230 gr. ball ammo at all times. He was lightning fast as many would say. Very practical teacher also. My dad and he worked out some scenarios also. I was so lucky as to get the training that they put together. Even then I knew the value of it.
I remember hating guns when I was younger because they seemed to take away all the advantage of martial arts. But when Tom and my dad explained to me that there is a great advantage to learning how to shoot I lost my abhorrence to the handgun and found the training extremely exciting. Lots of repetition and sweat but I loved it. Much of the shooting stuff is basic while a good deal is cutting edge."

Thomas B. Loughnan demonstrating
pistol prowess.
By EDWARD RANZAL
One of the fastest guns in the country is a lawman based in the canyons of Manhattan.
Not the rawboned-Texas type of six-gun shooter, this husky New York-reared lawman has amazed police officials, civil de-fense authorities and habitues of pistol ranges with his ability to draw a .45-caliber automatic pistol from a regulation army holster and at seven yards hit [garbled].
In articles in a number of authoritative gun magazines, weapons experts have labeled the lawman "the fastest gun” in the country. The lawman is 33-year old Thomas B. Loughnan, a 15-year veteran with the Air Force as a military policeman. He has been a deputy United States marshal in the southern District of New York since May.
He lives with his wife, Alice, and their 16-month-old daughter, Margaret, at 15 Lewis Place, Yonkers. He resigned from the Air Force last January.
Had Never Fired Pistol
Born in Yonkers and raised in the neighborhood of Columbus Avenue and 106th Street, Mr. Loughnan enlisted in the Air Force at 17. The 5-foot, 8-inch tall, 195 pound youth had never fired a pistol and, in fact, was gun shy.
A year later he found himself guarding an Air Force warehouse in Nome, Alaska. He heard a sound and went to investigate. When the soldier called, a man whirled and fired several shots. One grazed his right side. The man escaped.
"Right then and there I decided for my own protection I‘d better learn how to draw my gun quickly," he said.
The airman began to practice several hours a day. Recently an electrical device timed his draw at 22 one-hundredths of a second.
But Deputy Loughnan may never get a chance to use his quick draw in the line of duty. Times have changed and hardly anyone can remember the last time a deputy in the Southern District of New York had to use his gun.

New York Times News Service
New York, N. Y.-The fastest gun in the country is a lawman based in the canyons of Manhattan.
Not the rawboned Texas type of six-gun shooter, the husky New York reared lawman has amazed police officials, civil defense authorities and denizens of pistol ranges with his ability to draw a .45 caliber automatic pistol from a regulation army holster and at seven yards hit six lifelike targets in one and three-quarter seconds.
His feats have been recognized by weapons experts, who, in articles in a number of magazines, have labeled the lawman as "the fastest gun” in the country.
The fast gun is Thomas B. Loughnan, 33, who spent 15 years in the air force as a military policeman before signing on as a deputy United States marshal in the southern district of New York last May.
When Loughnan enlisted in the air force at 17, he had never fired a pistol and, in fact, was gun shy.
A year later he found himself guarding an air force warehouse in Nome, Alaska. He heard a sound and went to investigate. He saw a man and when the soldier challenged him, the man whirled and fired several shots. One grazed Loughnan's right side. The man escaped.
"Right then and there I decided for my own protection I'd better learn how to draw my gun quickly," he said.
Loughnan began to practice several hours a day. It paid off quickly. One day as he walked to the pistol range in Nome a mad Siberian Husky leaped at him. The soldier drew his service gun and hit the dog five times before the body hit the ground.
The crew-cut deputy explained how he draws the semi-automatic from the regulation army holster in record time. Regulations require that the chamber of the weapon be empty and the flap of the holster buttoned down.
He opens and lifts the holster flap with an extended thumb, grasps the gun butt, lifts it out and turns the butt one quarter toward his body. This engages the rear sight on the nub hook of the holster. He forces the gun back into the holster so that the slide moves backward and loads a round into the chamber. He then draws into firing position.
His draw has been timed electrically in .022 of a second for accuracy, his record is 19 out of 21 shots in the "lethal" area of a man size silhouette.

How to Avoid Dying Prematurely
Some of the most common reasons people die before their time can be prevented with these simple tips. An emergency room physician shares empowering examples of potentially deadly activities that you can and should avoid. From Mercola.com--the leading alternative health site on the web.
"This Ain't Your Daddy's Iron Palm Bag!"
GUIDED CHAOS™ BRANDED SLAMBAGS
Develop accurate, crushing, hand power for strikes and gouges
"As soon as I began using it, I was HOOKED! ...I have long practiced grasping/striking activities against heavy bags and using different hand grips - round balls, piston push grips, etc. However, the Slam bag supersedes ALL of these in my opinion. It does it ALL and more. Just passing it from left to right hands and clawing it - either sideways or pancake style helps create strength and coordination...I even surprised myself at how overwhelmed I was as soon as I started using it." --David H. Smith, Student of Professor Bradley Steiner
Instead of "toughening" your hands with a typical iron palm bag and possibly developing painful arthritis as well as thick, ugly, useless callouses, why not turn your hand strikes into "smart bombs" so that all your chops, punches, gouges, rips and tears explode with devastating crushing power and dead-on, free-form timing and accuracy! (The most overlooked qualities in hand weapon development). The Guided Chaos method of strike training using Dropping Force greatly improves hand strength, timing, balance, and sudden impact power while simultaneously developing your tissue and tendon strength without creating ugly and useless "makiwara" callouses. Get your tough, tan, double-stitched cowhide SLAMBAG with the GC logo hot-branded on both sides and start hitting like a jackhammer.

KILL THE ENEMY:
Close Quarters Combat
for U.S. Military Personnel
"The Kill the Enemy video is the greatest work of modern combat of our time!
In the dirty bloody world of real combat there are no second place winners. In combat there is only Kill and come home. John trains you for just such an encounter. There is nothing in the world that can ever prepare you for the harsh cold reality of combat, but John Perkins has found a way to bridge the gap between school and real world no-holds-barred REALITY!"--Captain Jonathan Edwards, 101st Airborne/Air Assault
POLITICALLY INCORRECT
HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT...?
In 1989, the RUSSIANS instituted a hand-to-hand combat methodology that far surpassed ours in terms of SIMPLICITY and EFFECTIVENESS. Ironically, it was nearly IDENTICAL to the system OUR military used--BACK IN WORLD WAR II!! WHAT HAPPENED?!!Through a political process too convoluted and distressing to elaborate on here, over the years, our soldiers' hand-to-hand training has become convoluted, mis-directed, and relatively ineffective except under "sportive or "competitive" (i.e. unrealistic) conditions.
KILL THE ENEMY is a simple video guide that does away with the boxing-grappling-locking nonsense that has become the "politically correct" standard of training for our soldiers in recent years. Instead of subjecting our military personnel to methods that could get them killed, Master Perkins and Lieutenent Colonel Ridenhour USMC provide basic, effective methods proven in World War II. Distilled from Part 1 of our book ATTACK PROOF, these strategies (Guided Chaos Combatives) are the basic tools that John Perkins' Guided Chaos builds upon. Topics include:
- Comparison: US vs. Russian Hand-to-Hand Training
- The Myth of Grappling
- Defensive/Offensive Posture
- Basic Hand Strikes
- Bag/Dummy Training/10 Seconds of Hell
- Wrestling the Rifle
- Covering Your Back
- A Fantasy Knife Fight

• Do you really want to Mount or go into the Guard position against someone bigger and stronger than you?
• If you're a woman, can you REALLY grapple with a stronger man...and live to tell about it?There is a world of difference between competitive submission fighting

MODIFIED NATIVE AMERICAN COMBAT
We focus on:
• Evasion
• Ground Mobility
• Ground Kicking
• Ground Avoidance
• Multiple Attackers
• Knife Attacks
• Penetrating defenses and striking to the eyes and throat OUR CRITICS SAY:
"We can hit the eyes and throat too, so what's the difference?"
The difference is that we're better at it--as well as defending against it, because both require Sensitivity and Adaptation--something we train exclusively.YOUR INSTRUCTORS:
Former forensic crime scene expert John Perkins:
Perkins has trained in Native American "Anything Goes" fighting principles since the age of 5. Over a period of 20 years he combined it with experience gained from over 100 extremely violent arrests (where people routinely ended up in the hospital or morgue), unsanctioned pit-fighting, World War II Close Quarters Combat, the internal aspects of tai chi and the ancient Greek combat art of Elephtheri Pali. In 1978, he formally created Ki Chuan Do and the principles of Guided Chaos [in1998 he officially changed the name of the art itself to Guided Chaos]. Unlike the "fight-by-the-numbers" self-defense methods popular today, the Groundfighting component of GC is probably unlike anything you've ever seen before.
Iraq and Afghanistan combat veteran Lt. Col. Al Ridenhour USMC:
Infantry unit commander and instructor of unarmed combat, he is also a Guided Chaos Master. Security Manager, Assistant Operations Officer, and the Anti-Terrorism Force Protection Officer for the II Marine Expeditionary Force in Iraq. Worked with U.S. Customs Service and U.S. Border Patrol for the JTF-6 counter drug mission. Has trained current and former members of US Marines, US Army Special Forces, NYPD, US Air Force OSI and US Air Marshal Service
Guided Chaos 2nd Degree Tony Dey, Champion of Cage Combat, Bare-knuckle, No-weight Limit and Vale Tudo matches in Kiev, Holland, Florida and Mississippi and former head bouncer at some of New York City's most violent nightclubs.

"Let me start by saying I thought I'd seen all that the world of 'reality-based self defence' had to offer, so for the easily bored out there, I'll cut to the chase. What I witnessed on the weekend of 26 and 27 March is the closest thing I've come across that resembles a modern-day, reality-based martial art and not just another 'combatives system'. Does it work? Hell, yeah! I got my arse well and truly kicked and at times felt like I was in the middle of a Jason Bourne fight scene."
--Clive Girdham, former Senshido and Geoff Thompson instructor [excerpted from the exclusive review of the Guided Chaos Australia Seminar in the Aug. print edition of BLITZ MAGAZINE: Australia's #1 Martial Arts magazine volume 25, issue 6
"Guided Chaos is the only training in my 15 plus years of Corrections that translates into real world application, period."
---Bob Miller, Corrections Officer at the largest facility in Oregon
"Guided Chaos is the only thing that has worked for me in real life situations. Unless you are 6'3" and 285 lbs of muscle, most of the Defensive Tactics stuff (ok all of the Defensive Tactics stuff) will get you hurt. And even if you are that big and strong, there is always someone bigger and stronger and there may be a lot of them. Nothing like dealing with one guy and it turns into a free for all with all his buddies. This is where you literally need to 'adapt or die' and Guided Chaos is the only training in my 15 plus years of Corrections that translates into real world application, period.
"If I had to pick only one martial arts system in the world it would be Guided Chaos..."
--Dr. Robert L. O'Block founder and publisher of the American College of Forensic Examiners International, American Board for Certification in Homeland Security
"...through watching videos put out by attackproof.com, and by
reading Attackproof, the book, I have learned real survival skills.
These skills have been learned...at an exponentially higher practical
