THE ATTACKPROOF 2001 SEMINAR DVD:
"The Forensic Reality of Violent Attacks
...and How to Survive Them"
A giant 3 hour DVD touching on most aspects of the GC system (referred to back then as "Ki Chuan Do" and "Ghostfist"). Although we teach many things differently now and our newer DVDs (Companion and Weapons Series, Combat Conditioning, Kill the Enemy, etc.), have much more detail, the huge April 28 2001 Seminar video (originally on VHS) provided a tremendous wealth of information. The Contact Flow sequences between (then) Major Al, master Tommy Barnett and GM John Perkins alone make it worth the price!

"My Personal Experience Training GC in New York..."
Derick Miller, Austin Texas GC Training Group Leader
[Editor's Note: Derick studied Kenpo Karate and Wing Chun as a teenager and Aikido after college. At the police academy, he learned the Koga method. In addition, he has studied Tai Chi and practiced push-hands, MMA, kickboxing and BJJ and taught defensive tactics to police officers.]
"Dear GM Perkins--
Thank you for all the help during my visit. This was my most productive visit yet, probably because I was less "in my own way" and able to learn more. I appreciated the insight into fighting physiology, too. Your insights into different body types was beyond anything I have run into.
Just before coming out to NY this last time, I had a breakthrough about being able to have a lighter touch. While in NY, I made progress on getting even lighter, moving better and, thanks to the Lt Col Ridenhour tuning me up a little, not backing up so much. Matt Kovsky helped me a lot with getting behind the guard, being less "sticky" and more lively, lowering my stance and moving in a more stable way (not leaving a foot in the bucket, etc) and re-incorporating material I had learned from past studies into my GC practice. Kevin [4th degree GC] helped me refine a bunch of small details in my practice, like subtle foot movements to allow me to strike better. Micheal [GC Master] gave me a lot of insights about bigger picture movement and practice issues, like how you can train well with those who are not as far along in their training. Andre [4th degree GC] helped me bring together and integrate the material. Patrick [2nd degree GC] showed me some drills for practicing lightness and sensitivity; we have used these drills to good effect in our group. Everyone I trained with was helpful, these are just the lessons that stuck the most.
As a result of this last trip, I was moving very differently when I trained in Austin on my first day back at the regular push-hands meeting on Sunday. It was dramatic enough that everyone noticed the difference.
One native Chinese Tai Chi teacher, Yang, who is quite good at push hands, saw me doing contact flow with the guy who runs the push-hands group. Yang exclaimed "I want to try that!" and walked over to me. He is normally reserved, so this was quite a surprise.
As I worked with him, I explained what we were doing, where it came from and how I knew from the first minute I tried contact flow (with Matt Kovsky in NY) that GC was able to easily defeat everything I knew and that I had to learn it. When I got to Nanuet and found a room filled with senior students who could all operate at such a high level, I knew I, too, would be able to learn it one day if I invested the time.
Yang said that he was having the same experience of GC with me. I assured him that I was very much a beginner and did not merit notice among the students in NY.
Yang is the third best push-hands player I have worked with (after a guy who gave a workshop and the guy who runs our push hands group). Yang does not show up often. Before he noticed me doing CF, we had done a session of push hands earlier in the day. He commented that I had "a very good structure" and he was having difficulty figuring it out. I said that he couldn't figure it out because there was no structure. I was just being sensitive to what he was doing and responding to that.
In the past, I had been far less difficult for him to deal with :-). GC training had turned the tables.
This is the stage I have been longing for: I can now show others enough to make it obvious that GC is something really special, which will make it much easier to attract more regular training partners. I'm also getting to the point where I can reliably demonstrate that going soft is superior to going hard, which will make it easier to help others make the transition. From the point of view of developing our training group, this is a big deal.
During this week, our GC training group has been making good progress, so the instruction in NYC was affective not only in the material but also how to pass the material on.
At the second push hands session since my trip to NY (yesterday), I was finding myself showing more CF material to several people and four members came up to me individually and thanked me for teaching them.
A lot of the things I was shown are still coming out and becoming more clear. I find myself moving in ways that are not only better, but being able to know right after I do them why they are better. I am able to give more immediately useful feedback to people I work with that they are able to incorporate and use in later movement.
Most of the help I have given others before this last trip was to suggest they use less pressure, to let them know when one of them was speeding up, to suggest moving feet more, etc. Although these were all helpful to some extent, they were not game changers and it took a long time to see progress. Now I can point out things that make the light bulb go on and causes immediate changes in moving with less pressure. It is not nearly at the level of what the students in NY are able to say to me, but it has raised our game already.
This last trip was a fantastic visit.
Thank you for the training, for developing this perfect art and for figuring out how to develop so many great students who can pass it on so well."--Derick Miller

"Let me start by saying I thought I'd seen all that the world of 'reality-based self defence' had to offer, so for the easily bored out there, I'll cut to the chase. What I witnessed on the weekend of 26 and 27 March is the closest thing I've come across that resembles a modern-day, reality-based martial art and not just another 'combatives system'. Does it work? Hell, yeah! I got my arse well and truly kicked and at times felt like I was in the middle of a Jason Bourne fight scene."
--Clive Girdham, former Senshido and Geoff Thompson instructor [excerpted from the exclusive review of the Guided Chaos Australia Seminar in the Aug. print edition of BLITZ MAGAZINE: Australia's #1 Martial Arts magazine volume 25, issue 6"...through watching videos put out by attackproof.com, and by
reading Attackproof, the book, I have learned real survival skills.
These skills have been learned...at an exponentially higher practical
yield-per-hour training rate than any other martial art classes or
seminar I've ever attended, or ever even heard rumor of."
--Matthew Shoener, Police Officer, Scranton, PA
"The Companion Video Part One is stupendous!
A godsend of detail for out-of-state practitioners."
