One more short email for today. I want to give you a number of helpful resources that I’ve collected over the past two weeks. Resources that will give you perspective and scientific opinions on the developing situation… including why children are almost untouched by this disease.
However, before I do that…
Join Me Live on Facebook
I’m going live on Facebook at 10:30am EST, on Thursday the 19th.
I will be answering questions that have been submitted this week.
Questions about:
- How studios should respond to this situation
- Solid business advice in these times
- General questions about marketing and studio business
- How to separate fact from fiction when it comes to all of the anxious energy that’s out there right now about the pandemic
This live video will be free to attend…. This is for everyone in the community, not just my clients and business students. If you’d like me to answer a question, just click the link below. Click here to leave your questionIf you cannot attend, there will be a replay. An invite will be sent out Thursday. OK, now on to the resources: My Top 3 Resources on the Coronavirus
I want to start by saying that I had not intended to speak about this through the Grow Your Music Studio blog. However, over the past 5 days, I have been inundated with emails and texts from clients and followers of Grow. I’ve even had clients hijack non-business posts that I’ve made on my personal Facebook profile and ask business / virus related questions in the comment thread. I’ve even had clients reach out asking me for advice on pandemic related questions. Clearly, people have lots of questions right now. To break the silence, I have three COVID-19 related articles / videos that I recommend. Some of these are a week or two old at this point… but they still are a cut above the majority of dreck that’s out there. If you read the comments on these resources, it’s interesting to note that people… just two weeks ago… were calling these people whacko with their predictions. In some cases, their predictions have already been validated by real-world events. “Why Outbreaks Go Exponential and How to Rein It In”My wife and I were already prepping a few weeks ago, because we were reading some high-quality data about what was happening on the ground in Italy. We were a little more informed than most, because we were closely monitoring the situation. Why? Well, we had to CANCEL a trip to Italy (a wedding). Oh well. Our friends were making fun of us for our “alarmism”… they aren’t anymore. Anyway, this article is thoughtful and visually pleasing to look at. “Why Children Aren’t Dying from Coronavirus”I’m not going to lie, none of us should be reading this article. I don’t understand a lot of it, since it is primarily written for a scientist However, start from the top and when you get overwhelmed (or bored)... scroll down to where it says “Melatonin: A Simple Guide” (about 80% of the way through the article) I was SHOCKED by this article, and the scientific conclusions it draws…. Including how to severely lower your chances of catching the virus and what to do if you catch it. Seriously, this article could save lives.“[VIDEO] How Serious Is This? Michael Osterholm Explains”I’ve seen a lot of opinions about what to do, what to think over the past few days. I heard someone giving advice a few days ago that he or she thinks “it’s OK to see kids one on one for lessons right now.” Someone else on a teacher’s forum was suggesting that this was all just an “overreaction.” At this point, I’m going to take the advice of an epidemiologist or virologist or statistician. Which is why I include this video of a clip of an interview with a scientist who has spent his entire life tracking and fighting diseases just like this one! I believe in calm, measured, non-reactionary thought.
It is why I have chosen these 3 resources to send you of the dozens that I’ve read or watched over the past few weeks. I hope they are a help to you. Very best, Daniel PS> Don’t forget, there I will be answering questions live on Thursday morning, Eastern time. If you’d like me to answer a question, just click the link below.
