Subject: Convince Reluctant Parents to Go Online

The word from the CDC and WHO is that we might be forced to stay indoors for longer than anticipated.

Schools in Brooklyn, New York are closed until April.

School has been cancelled in Oklahoma until the 5th of April

Governors of states all over the U.S. are asking people to avoid groups of 10 or more.

No one knows how this will turn out…

However, my clients are beginning to wonder if we might be teaching online for longer than expected.

If that is the case, I want to share several resources that have been made available to the community about teaching online.

Joy Morin’s Guide to Teaching Online
My friend Joy wrote a long post about online teaching and made it publicly available on her blog earlier this week.

A lot of useful tips here:

What To Send Your Parents to Help Them to Switch to Online Lessons

One of my clients gave permission to share this handy guide. It’s a guide to setting up an “at-home” music lesson.

I recommend sending something like this to your students. It will make it much more likely that people will make the switch to online lessons.

A guide like this doesn’t have to be super fancy… it gets the job done.

How to Convince Reluctant Parents to Switch to Online Lessons

Do you have some parents that are holding out or wanting to end their lessons with you for now?

I have been looking at some of the emails that my clients have been sending out… and I’m seeing a pattern.

These emails are not “good marketing.”

I am going to be holding a special Q&A this Thursday (March 19th) at 10:30am EST.

I’m calling it my “Music Teacher Quaran-stream”

During this live stream, I am going to cover the topic of persuading parents not to quit lessons.

I’ve been seeing some of the emails that studios are sending out, and they are heavy on “boring information” and very light on actual things that will motivate and inspire parents to stick with their lesson program!

Also….

If you have questions about how to respond to the Coronavirus situation, if you have questions about marketing or studio business, questions about online lessons or online group lessons… please submit them at the link below.

This will be free to attend…. This is for everyone in the community, not just my clients and business students.

If you cannot attend, there will be a replay.

I will be sending emails this week with thoughts about studio business and how we can respond in a rational, responsible way to the developing Coronavirus situation.

Very best,
Daniel

PS> I’ll be sending out a reminder and link tomorrow morning. The replay will be available at the same link immediately after the Quaran-stream is done.
